GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith basketball team will take on Liberty League rival Rensselaer in the semifinals of the ECAC Upstate Tournament on Fri., March 2, at 8 p.m. in the Tuttle North Athletic Complex at Brockport State.

The host Golden Eagles will battle Oswego State in the other semifinal at 6 p.m. Tickets are $4 for adults, $2 for students.

The Herons (15-11) and Red Hawks (16-10) will meet for the third time this season. William Smith won the two previous meetings: 59-57, in Troy on Jan. 27 and 60-45 in Geneva on Feb. 16.

The contest will mark the fourth time in the past six seasons that the two schools have played three times in one year. The Herons swept three from RPI in 2006. The Red Hawks won the tripleheader in 2004 and took two of three in 2002.

The No. 5 seed, William Smith advanced to the semifinals with a 67-54 win at No. 4 Utica on Feb. 28 behind the 22 points and 10 rebounds of junior forward Stephanie Czajkowski.

The eighth-seed, RPI pulled off a 74-61 upset of No. 1 Elmira thanks to Whitney Coleman's 16-point, seven-rebound, six-steal night.

The ECAC Upstate Championship is scheduled for March 3, at 2 p.m.
